Froula Pipe Organ Fundraising Goal Met!
The September 25th fund-raising concert at Roosevelt High School was a success. Jonas Nordwall played a fine program in the school's new theater using a rented digital organ. Our goal to raise $12,500 has been met, and an additional $12,500 in matching funds will come from the Special Projects Advisory Committee (SPAC) fund. As of January 5, donations total $14,253 and checks continue to arrive in the mail. This means that the project to update and install the school's pipe organ in the new theater can proceed.
The work will be done by the Pipe Organ Foundation over the next year. Space at the old Lincoln High School will be used as shop space. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks such as: pipe washing and polishing, wiring and soldering, wood working and finishing, assembling component parts, and other tasks that don't require prior experience with organs. Daytime, evenings and weekends will all be used. If you are interested in volunteering, call Carl Dodrill at 206-236-3492.
Additional monetary donations are also welcome. Even though the basic fund-raising goal was met, additional funds will make possible some additions and enhancements to the refurbished organ. Tax-deductible contributions should be made payable to: AGO Seattle Chapter and mailed to PO Box 19740, Seattle, WA 98109. Indicate "RHS Froula Organ Fund" on the memo line of the check. Thank you for your support for this project.
